Painted in 1937, painting captures the gentle movement of the river with expressive brushwork and a harmonious palette of soft blues, fresh greens, and warm ochres. The weathered stone arches evoke the timeless charm of the French countryside.

A beautiful example of early 20th-century European landscape painting, offering both historical character and enduring decorative appeal. The frame displays a brass plaque with the artist’s name “Ferchau” (Ferdinand Chaumeau) along with his signature in the lower right corner and the date of completion.

Back of painting includes an inscription, when translated reading: “To my friend Victor. Warmest memories of Châteauneuf-du-Cher… and of the painter”

Condition: Painting shows age appropriate wear. The canvas is a bit loose in the center, while repairs have been made to the old canvas. There are also a few small holes visible thru the canvas when painting is held to the light. Painting is surrounded in the original carved wooden frame.
